Dinner for two
Two mains, one dessert, and a silent agreement about the split.
Business lunch
Expensed, but the tip is still yours. 20% keeps you classy.
Group of six
Six people, one bill, no calculator-app battle. We already did it.
Coffee counter
A 10% tip on coffee is a vote of confidence in the barista.
Generous night
A celebration. The math agrees with your mood.
Round up, please
So the server doesn't hate the decimals.
pro tips
18% is the new 15%. The other 3% buys you table placement.
Round up when the bill is odd. Your server has rent, and decimals don't pay it.
In a group, tip on the total before splitting. Tipping on your split is cheap math.
what it does
Type your bill, pick a tip percentage, and choose how many people are splitting it. Everything updates as you type — the tip, the total and what each person owes, down to the cent.
The quick tip buttons cover the classics, and the slider covers the rest. Split it among friends with the plus and minus, and switch the currency symbol to whatever your wallet speaks that night.
There is even a round-up button, for the moment when a bill ends in .37 and you decide the universe has suffered enough. Round it up, add a little, and call it generosity.
Use it anywhere the bill lands: a dinner out, a group trip, a delivery split three ways, or the moment you need to know what 18% actually is before you pretend to be generous. Tip on the total before splitting, and the maths stays honest for everyone at the table.
quick answers
What percentage should I tip?
Locally it varies — 15% is polite, 18–20% is the modern default in the US. The calculator doesn't judge; it just does the maths.
Do I tip before or after tax?
Convention says on the pre-tax total, but plenty of people tip on the whole bill. We give you the tools; the conscience is yours.
How do I split a bill fairly?
Tip on the total, then divide by the number of people — the widget shows the per-person amount. If someone only had a salad, that's a negotiation, not arithmetic.
What does "round up" do?
It rounds the total up to the next whole unit and folds the difference into the tip — so the bill is clean and the server gets a little extra.
